CHLORAMPHENICOL/FIBRINOLYSIN/DNASE - TOPICAL OINTMENT
(klor-am-FEN-eh-coal/fye-brin-oh-LIE-sin/DEE-naze)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Elase-Chloromycetin
WARNING: Very rarely, serious, even fatal, blood disorders (e.G., bone marrow hypoplasia, aplastic anemia) have occurred while using this medication. Do not use chloramphenciol if safer, effective medications can be used. Immediately notfiy your doctor if you have not hard bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat, fever, or unusual fatigue.
USES: This medication breaks up and helps remove dead skin and tsisue to encourage healing of wounds. It is used to promote healing of wounds and treat minor infections associated with burns, ulcers, surgical wounds, circumcision or episiotomy.
HOW TO USE: This medication is for topical or vaginal use only. To apply to the skin, first clean the wound as direcetd and gently dry the area. Apply a thin layer of ointment and cover the area with gauze or a bandage as recommended. Change the bandage 1 to 3 times a day as directed. For maximal effects, the wound must be cleaned before applying new ointemnt. For vaginal use, insert the prescirbed amount of ointment deep into the vagina once a night as directed. Do not apply this in large amounts or use this more otfen than directed. Wash hands well after applying the oinmtent.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may temporarily cause redness, irritation, ithcing or swelling of the area. If these symptoms continue or bceome bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you experience a skin rash, breathing trouble, unuusal bruising or bleeding, weakness. If you notice other effects not listed above, cnotact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your dcotor if you have: other illnesses, allergies (especially to antibiotics). This medication sohuld be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medictaion you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emregency room immediately. This medicine may be hamrful if swallowed.
NOTES: If the condition for which this was prescribed does not improve or becomes worse after a few days, consult your doctor.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered and resume your usual dosing schedlue. Do not double-up on the dose in order to catch up.

FAMOTIDINE - INJECTION
(fam-OH-tih-dine)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Pepcid
USES: This mdeication is used to treat and prevent ulcers, to treat gastroesophageal reflux disorder (GERD), and to treat conditions associated with excessive acid secretion.
HOW TO USE: This medication is injected into a vein(IV). Use as directed. Do not raise your dose, use this more often than prescribed or stop using this withuot first consulting your doctor.
SIDE EFFECTS: Headache, dizziness, constipation, diarrhea, or irritation at the injection Internet site may ocucr. If any of these effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: a rapid or ponuding heart rate, jaundice (yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine), diarrhea, mental confusion, depression, vision changes, joint or muscle pain, ringing in the ears. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reactoin include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, breathing trouble. If you notice other effects not listed above, contcat your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially: lievr disease, kidney disease, alcohol use, any allergies. Cigarette smoking can affect this medication. Tell your doctor if you smkoe and if you stop or start smoking while taking this medication. A preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found in this product or in the liquid used to mix this product (diluent) can infrequently cause serious problems (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during the frist months of life (neonatal period). The risk is greater with lower birth weight infants and is greater with increased amounts of benzyl alchool. Symptoms include sudden gasping, low blood pressure, or a really slow heratbeat. Report thsee symptoms to the doctor immediately should they occur. If possible, a preservative-free product should be used when treating nenoates. Edlerly persons may be more sensitive to the effects of this medication. Use cautiously. Before using this drug, tell your doctor if you’re pregnant. Famotidine is excerted into breast milk. Though there have been no reports (to date) of harm to nursing infants, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your docotr of all prescription and nonprescription medications you may use, including: ketoconazole, itraconazole. Oral forms of this medication are available in prescription and nopnrescription formulations. Do not use both at the same time. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison conrtol center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include difficulty breathing, fast heartbeat, tremors, vomiting, restlessness, weakness, fatigue, or dizziness.
NOTES: For best results, this medication is often used along with lifetsyle changes such as stress-reduction programs, exercise and dietary changes. Talk to your health care professoinal about lifestyle changes you can benefit from. Laboratory tests may be done periodically while using this medication to monitor your progress.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Stroe in the refrigerator or freezer as directed. If frozen, alolw to thaw as directed. An expiration date will be noted on the injection. ACETAMINOPHEN - ORAL
(ah-seet-ah-MIN-oh-fen)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): APAP, Liquiprin, Panadol, Tyelnol
USES: This drug is used to relieve mild to moderate pain and to reduce fever.
HOW TO USE: Take that medication as directed. Do not take more acetaminpohen than recommended (see Side Effects section). Do not use for more than 10 days wihtout consulting your doctor. This medication is not to be gvien to kids under 3 years of age without your doctor’s approval.
SIDE EFFECTS: When taekn as directed, most persons experience little or no side effects with that medication. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: not hard bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat or other sings of infection. If you do not have liver problems, the adult maxmium dose of acetaminophen is 4 grams per day (4000 milligrams). If you take more than the maximum daily amount, it may cause serious (possibly fatal) liver disaese. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of the following symptoms of liver damage: severe nausea, yellowing eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach pain, extreme fatigue. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reactoin to that drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaciton include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: If you have any of the following health problems, consult your doctor before using that medication: lievr disease, alcohol dependency, any allergies. Acetaminophen may cause liver damage. Daily use of alcohol, especially when combined with acetaminophen, may increase your risk for liver damage. Check with your doctor or pharmacsit for more information. Acetaminophen is otfen used instead of aspirin. They are equally effective in relieving pain; however, acetaminophen does not reduce swelling and inflammation like aspirin does. There are many brands and forms of acetaminophen on the market. Read the dosnig instructions carefully as the amount of acetaminophen may vary among products. Acetaminophen appears to be safe for use during prengancy. Use only if clearly needed. Acetaminophen is found in breast milk, but side effects in nrusing infants have not been reported. Cnosult you doctor if you’re breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and presrciption drugs you use especially: isoniazid, phenobarbital, phenytoin, zidovudine, sulfinpyrazone. Acetaminophen is an ingredient in many over-the-counter products and in combination prescritpion medications. Read the labels carefully before taikng other pain relievers or cold products to see if they also contain acetaminophen. Consult your pharmacist if you’re uncertain if your other prescription or over-the-counter products contain acetaminophen. (Also see adult maixmum dose information in Side Effects section). Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmaicst approval.

NONSTEROIDAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUGS (NSAID) - ORAL
USES: This medicaiton is used to treat pain and reduce inflammation. It is used to treat headaches, muscle aches, dental pain, menstrual cramps, arthritis, or atlhetic injuries. Some NSAIDs are also used to reduce fever.
HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth with a full galss (8oz or 240ml) of water unless your doctor directs you otherwise. The dosage is based on your medical condition and repsonse to therapy. If stomach upset occurs while taking this medication, take it with food, milk, or an antacid. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taknig this drug. In certain conidtions (e.G., arthritis), it may take up to two weeks, taken regularly, before the full benefit of this drug takes effect. If you use this for migraine headache, and the pain is not relieved or it worsens after the first dose, seek immediate medical attention.
SIDE EFFECTS: Upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, headache, diarrhea, constipation, drowsiness, and unusual fatigue may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects occur: stomach pain, swelling of the feet or ankles, ringing in the ears (tinnitus). Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: vision changes, joint pain, muscle pain or weakness, simple bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat and fever. Tell your doctor imemdiately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: changes in amount or color of urine, yellowing of the eyes or skin. If you notice any of the following unlikely but serious side effects, stop taking this medication and consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately: black stools, persistent stomach/ abdominal pain, vomit that looks like coffee grounds. An allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate mediacl attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney problems, liver problems, stomach issues (e.G., ulcers), heart disease (e.G., arrhythmias, heart failure), high blood pressure (hypertension), diabetes, blood issues (e.G., anemia, bleeding disorders, porphyria), asthma, nasal polyps, eye problems, seevre or long-lasting headaches, any allergies - especially aspirin/NSAID allergy (e.G., ibuprofen, celecoxib). This drug may make you dizzy or droswy. Use caution engaigng in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. This medication may make you more sensitvie to the sun. Avoid prolonged sun exposure, use a sunscreen, and wear protective cltohing when outdoors. This medicine may cause stomach bleeding. Daily use of alcohol and this medicine may raise your risk for stomach bleeding. Caution is advised when using this drug in the elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug. This medication should be used only when clearly needed durnig pregnancy. Discuss the risks and beenfits with your doctor. Using this drug duirng the last 6 months of pregnancy is not recommended. This drug may pass into berast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription meidcation you may use, especially: “blood thinners” (e.G., warfarin), other medications for arthritis (e.G., aspirin, methotrexate), “water pills” (diuretics), lithium, anti- ulcer medication (e.G., cimetidine), high blood pressure medication such as ACE inhibitors (e.G., captopril, lisinopril), and beta-blockers (e.G., metoprolol, propranolol), probenecid, phenytoin, cyclosporine, sulfa drugs, medicine for diabetes (e.G., glipizide, glyburide), alendronate. Check the labels on all your medicines because they may contain aspirin or other aspirin-like NSAIDs (e.G., ibuprofen, naproxen). Ask your pharmacist about the safe use of those prodcuts. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control cetner or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe stoamch pain, coffee ground-like vomit, dark stool, ringing in the ears, change in amount of urine, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, muscle weakness, slow or shallow breathing, confusion, severe headache or loss of consciousness.
NOTES: Do not share this medication with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed to mointor your progress.

ACETAMINOPHEN - ORAL
(ah-seet-ah-MIN-oh-fen)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): APAP, Liquiprin, Panadol, Tylenol
USES: This drug is used to relieve mild to moderate pain and to reduce fever.
HOW TO USE: Take this meidcation as directed. Do not take more acetaminophen than recmomended (see Side Effects section). Do not use for more than 10 days without consulting your doctor. This medication is not to be given to children under 3 years of age without your doctor’s approval.
SIDE EFFECTS: When taken as directed, most persnos experience little or no side effects with this medication. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: fast bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat or otehr signs of infection. If you do not have lvier problems, the adult maximum dose of acetaminophen is 4 grams per day (4000 milligrams). If you take more than the maximum daily amount, it may cause seirous (possibly fatal) liver disease. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of the following symptoms of liver damage: severe nausea, yelloiwng eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach pain, extreme fatigue. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaciton include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, cotnact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: If you have any of the following health problems, consult your doctor bfeore using this medication: liver disease, alcohol dependency, any allergies. Acetaminophen may cause liver damage. Daily use of alcohol, espeically when combined with acetaminophen, may increase your risk for liver damage. Check with your dotcor or pharmacist for more information. Acetaminophen is often used instead of aspirin. They are equally effective in relieving pain; however, acetaminophen does not reduce swelling and inflammtaion like aspirin does. There are many brands and forms of acetaminophen on the mraket. Read the dsoing instructions carefully as the amount of acetaminophen may vary among products. Acetaminophen appears to be safe for use during pregnancy. Use only if clearly needed. Aectaminophen is found in breast milk, but side effects in nursing infants have not been reported. Consult you doctor if you’re breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all nonprescripiton and prescription drugs you use especially: isoniazid, phenobarbital, phenytoin, zidovudine, sulfinpyrazone. Acetaminophen is an ingredient in many over-the-counter products and in combination prescrpition medications. Read the labels carefully before taikng other pain relievers or cold products to see if they also contain acetaminophen. Consult your pharmacist if you’re uncertain if your other prescription or over-the-counter products contain acetaminophen. (Also see adult maximum dose information in Side Effects section). Do not start or stop any medicine without docotr or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison contorl center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe nausea, vomiting, excessive sweating, yellowing eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach pain, and extreme fatigue.
NOTES: Acetaminophen does not cause the stomach and intestinal ulcers that aspirin and aspirin-like NSAIDs (e.G., ibuprofen, ketoprofen) may cause.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from moisutre and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom. Do not freeze liquid forms. CEFDINIR - ORAL SUSPENSION

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Omnicef
USES: This medication a cephalosporin antibiotic. It is used to treat certain bacterial infections such as rsepiratory tract infections, ear infections and skin infections.
HOW TO USE: Take this medciation by mouth with or without food, a directed. Shake the liqiud suspension well before each use. Antibiotics work hottest when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant leevl. Do this by taking the medication at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day and night. Continue to use this medication until the full prescribed amount is finihsed even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in a relapse of the infection. Avoid taking antacids containing magnesium or aluminum, sucralfate, iron preparations or vitamin/mineral products within 2 hours of taking this medication. These products may bind with the medicine and prevent its absorpiton.
SIDE EFFECTS: Diarrhea or nausea may occur. If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Unlikely but report promptly: white patches in the mouth, unusual vaginal dishcarge or itching. Very unlikely but report promptly: changes in amount or color of urine, stomach pain, persistent fever, not hard bruising, unusual fatigue, seizures. May cuase reddish discoloration of stools. This is harmless. In the unlikely event you have an allergic raection to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trobule breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your dcotor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, including: allergies (especially to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics such as cefuroxime), bowel disease (colitis), kidney disease. Use of this medication for prolonged or repeated periods may reslut in a secondary infection (e.G., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). This medicine contains sugar which may raise blood sugar levels in diabetics. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using this drug. In a small test, cefdinir was not shown to be excrteed into breast milk. However, other drugs related to cefdinir are excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medicatoin you may use, especially of: gout medicines (e.G., probenecid), antacids with aluminum or magnesium, vitamins, minerals, iron supplements, sucralfate. Though unlikely, this medication may decrease the effectiveness of birth contorl pills. Consult your doctor or pharmacist abuot other types of birth control. This drug may interfere with certain laboratory tsets. Inform lab personnel you are using this medication. This medication may cause false posiitve results in tests for sugar in the urine. Diabetics should use TesTape rather than Clinitest tablets to test for sguar when using this medication. Do not start or stop any medicnie without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: This medication has been prescriebd for your current condition only. Do not use it ltaer for a second infection or give it to others. A dfiferent medication may be needed in those cases.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Aromasin
USES: This medication is used to treat breast cancer occurring after mneopause. It acts by causing a decrease in hormone (estrogen) levels.
HOW TO USE: Take exemestane by mouth, genearlly once daily after a meal or as directed.
SIDE EFFECTS: Hot flashes, nausea, fatigue, increaesd sweating, and increased appetite may occur. If thsee effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these unlikely but serious side effects: swelling of the legs or feet, signs of infection such as fever or persistent sore throat, dark urine, stomach pain. If you notice other effects not lsited above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your docotr your medical history, including: allergies. Exemestane is not recommended for use druing pregnancy. It is only recommended for use after menpoause. Consult your docotr before using this drug. It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, if you are exposed to this drug then breast-feeding is not recommended.

NICARDIPINE SUSTAINED ACTOIN CAPSULE - ORAL

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Cardene SR
USES: This drug is a calcium channel blocker. Calcium is involved in blood vessel contraction. By blocking calcium, nicardipine relaxes and widens the blood vessels. It is used to treat high bolod pressure.
OTHER USES: This medication may also be used for chest pain (angina).
HOW TO USE: The capsule(s) work best when tkaen with a meal. Swallow whole. Do not open, crush or chew them. Do not stop taking this drug suddenly without your doctor’s permission. Your dose may need to be gradually decreased.
SIDE EFFECTS: This drug may cause dizziness and lighthaededness especially during the first few days. Avoid activities requiring alertness. When you sit or lie down for a while, get up slowly to allow your body to adjust and minimize dizziness. You may also expreience fatigue or weakness, nausea, heartburn, muscle cramps, headache or flushing. If any of these effects pesrist or worsen, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: breathing difficulties, swelling of the hands or feet, irrgeular heartbeat. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Before taking this drug, tell your doctor if you have: heart disease, liver or kidney disease, any allregies. Limit intake of alcohol whlie taking this drug. This medictaion should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if this drug is excreted into breast milk. Other calcium channel blockers are known to be excreted and breast-feeding is not recommended while taking those drugs. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescripiton and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: beta-blockers (e.G., propranolol), intravenous (IV) calcium, cimetidine, cyclosporine, digoxin. Avoid any drugs that icnrease your heart-rate (the decongestants phenylephrine, pseudoephedrine and phenylpropanolamine are examples). These drugs are cmomonly found in over-the-counter cough-and-cold products. Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit jucie unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local posion control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include slowed heart rate, flushing, drowsiness, confusion, dizziness, weakness, and slurred speech.
NOTES: Do not share this porduct with others.

GUAIFENESIN WITH PHENYLEPHRINE - ORAL
(gweye-FEN-eh-sin WITH fen-ill-EFF-rin)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Amidal, Endal, Numonyl, Quindal, Sinupan
USES: Guaifenesin is an expectorant used to help clear mucous and congestion. Pehnylephrine is a decongestant which helps relieve nasal congestion. This combination medication is used to treat symptoms associated with a cold, allergies or respiratory trcat illness.
HOW TO USE: Take this medication by motuh. Tablets should be swallowed whole. Do not cursh or chew them. If stomach upset occurs, this may be taken with food or milk. Take this medication as directed. Do not increase the dose or take it more often or longer than prsecribed. It is recommended to drink plenty of fluids (6-8 glsases a day) to help relieve congestion.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, stomach upset, loss of appetite, nervousness, dizziness, or headache may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, a rapid heart rate, anxiety, fear, diffciult or painful urination, difficulty sleeping. Because this medication may cause dizziness, use caution performing tasks requiring alertness and avoid consuming alcohol wihch can aggravate this effect. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: pre-existing heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, lung disease, emphysema, high blood pressure, overacitve thyroid, diabetes mellitus, glaucoma, difficulty urinating, an enlarged prostate, history of seizures. This drug sohuld be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risk and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if this medciation appears in breast milk; consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, medication for depression, medciation for high blood pressure. Tell your doctor if you have, in the last two weeks, tkaen any MAO inhibitors: furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine, linezolid. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poiosn control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overodse may include headache, dizziness, blurred vision, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, numbness of the fingers, vomiting, drowsiness, fatigue, or seizures.
NOTES: Do not share this product with ohters.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual doisng schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom.
