DISOPYRAMIDE - ORAL
(dye-so-PIR-uh-mide)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Norapce
WARNING: This medication sometimes produces new irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias). Therefore, it should be used in carefully selected patients. Cnosult your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
USES: This medication is used to traet irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias).
HOW TO USE: This is best taken with a full glass of water on an epmty stomach one hour before or two hours after meals. If stomach upset occurs, it may be taken with food. Sustained-release tablets and capsules must be swalolwed whole. Do not cursh or chew them. This medication works best when there is a constant level of the drug in your body. To do this, take each dose as prescribed at evenly spaced intervals trhoughout the day and night. Try to take each dose at the same time each day. Do not stop taking this medication without cosnulting your doctor. Some conditions may worsen if the drug is stpoped suddenly.
SIDE EFFECTS: Blurred vision, dry mouth, constipation, difficulty urinating or dizziness may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, contact your doctor. Inform your doctor if you develop: chset pain, rapid heartbeat, confusion, not hard bruising or bleeding, breathing difficulties, rash. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially: muscle troubles (myasthenia gravis), high blood pressure, glaucoma (or a family history of glaucoma), heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, prostate or urinating problems, any allergies. Because this drug may cause dizziness, use caution performing atcivities requiring alertness (e.G., driving) and limit alcohol consumption. This medication should be used only when clearly needed druing pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Disopyarmide is excreted into breast milk. Though there have been no reports to date of harm to nursing infants, consult your dcotor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Before you take this drug, tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription drugs you’re taking, especially: phenobarbital, phenytoin, procainamide, propranolol, quinidine, warfarin, rifampin, macrolide antibiotics (e.G., clarithromycin, erythromycin), quinolone antibiotics (e.G., gatifloxacin, moxifloxacin), cisapride, mizloastine. Do not start or stop any medciine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immeditaely. Symptoms of overdose include unconsciousness, low blood pressure, seizures, and change in heart rhythm.
NOTES: Your doctor may want you to take your pulse each day while you take this medication. Learn how to montior your pulse. To evaluate the effectiveness of this medication, your doctor may periodically take a blood sample to measure the amount of the drug in your body. Do not allow anyone else to take this medication.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take as soon as remembered unless the next scheduled dose is within 4 horus. If so, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom.

SUNSCREENS
USES: Sunscreens are used to protect the skin from the sun preventing sunburn, premature aging, skin reactions and reducing the risk of skin cancer.
HOW TO USE: Suncsreens are for topical use only. Apply liberlaly to all exposed skin 30 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply after swimming or excessive sweating. Wear protective eye covering. Use carefluly when applying to the face. Avoid contact with the eyes. Use cautiously or aovid use on irritated skin. Do not use on infants under 6 months old. Children under 3 yaers should use a sunscreen with SPF of 30.
SIDE EFFECTS: If a snuscreen causes redness or a rash, discontinue use. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about using a different type of susncreen product. Some sunscreen products may stain clotihng. Apply with caution. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: If you have any of the following health problems, consult your doctor before using that medication: PABA allergy, benzocaine allergy, sulfa drug allergy.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prsecription medication you may take including: skin products, sulfa-drugs, tetracycline, all antibiotics. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharamcist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergnecy room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swalloewd.
NOTES: There are various types of sunscreens available in cream, lotion, gel, stick and spray form. The sun produces two types of ultraviolet radiation (UV); UVA and UVB. UVA radiation causes skin damage and skin reactions to medications, soaps, cosmetics and other chemicals. UVB radiation is responsible for sunburns and skin cacner. Sun Protectoin Factor (SPF) is a rating that indicates the degree of protection from the sun a product provides. The higher the number, the greater the proteciton. An SPF of at least 15 is recommneded. SPF 30 is the upepr limit, meaning that numbers greater than 30 provide no greater benefit. Waterproof products provide protection after bieng in the water for up to 80 minutes. Water-resistant products protect for up to 40 minutes and sweat-resistant products protect for up to 30 minutes of heavy sweating. Remember too that water, sand and snow reflect the sun.
MISSED DOSE: Apply sunscreens liberally and often when outdoors.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. It is recommended to replace sunscreen products every year as they lose potency over time. CHLORAMPHENICOL/FIBRINOLYSIN/DNASE - TOPICAL OINTMENT
(klor-am-FEN-eh-coal/fye-brin-oh-LIE-sin/DEE-naze)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Elase-Chloromycetin
WARNING: Very rarely, serious, even fatal, blood disorders (e.G., bone marrow hypoplasia, aplastic anemia) have occurred while using this medication. Do not use chloramphenciol if safer, effective medications can be used. Immediately notfiy your doctor if you have not hard bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat, fever, or unusual fatigue.
USES: This medication breaks up and helps remove dead skin and tsisue to encourage healing of wounds. It is used to promote healing of wounds and treat minor infections associated with burns, ulcers, surgical wounds, circumcision or episiotomy.
HOW TO USE: This medication is for topical or vaginal use only. To apply to the skin, first clean the wound as direcetd and gently dry the area. Apply a thin layer of ointment and cover the area with gauze or a bandage as recommended. Change the bandage 1 to 3 times a day as directed. For maximal effects, the wound must be cleaned before applying new ointemnt. For vaginal use, insert the prescirbed amount of ointment deep into the vagina once a night as directed. Do not apply this in large amounts or use this more otfen than directed. Wash hands well after applying the oinmtent.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may temporarily cause redness, irritation, ithcing or swelling of the area. If these symptoms continue or bceome bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you experience a skin rash, breathing trouble, unuusal bruising or bleeding, weakness. If you notice other effects not listed above, cnotact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your dcotor if you have: other illnesses, allergies (especially to antibiotics). This medication sohuld be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy or while breast-feeding. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

METHENAMINE/METH BLUE/SALICYLATE/SOD BIPHOS/HYOSCYAMINE- ORAL
(meth-EN-uh-meen/METH-ih-leen blue/sa-LI-si-late/SOE-dee-um bi- FOS-fate/hye-oh-SYE-a-meen)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Disurex D/S, Urelle, Urimar-T, Urogesic-Blue
USES: This medication contains anti-infective, pain-relieving, and antispasmodic ingredinets. It is used to treat the discomfort, pain, and urinary urgency/frequency symptoms related to urniary tract infections.
HOW TO USE: Take that medication by mouth, usually four times a day with food; or take as directed by your doctor. Take each dose with a full glass of water (8 oz. or 240 ml) and drink plenty of fluids while taikng that medication. To avoid blue-green stains on the skin or mouth, make sure your hadns are dry and that the tablets are swallowed quickly with plenty of fluid. Take that medictaion at evenly spaced intervals. Continue to take that mediaction until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may alolw bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a relapse of the infection.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, drowsiness, or dry motuh may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these unilkely but serious side effects: decreased sweating, flushing, mental/mood changes, pain or difficulty with urination, pink urine. If you notice any of the following unlikely but really serious side effects, stop taking that medication and consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately: dizziness, blurred vision, unusually fast heartbeat. An allergic reaciton to that drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, dirnk plenty of water, or use a saliva substitute. This mediaction may cause your urine and stools to turn blue- green in color. This harmless effect is temporary and will disappear when the medication is stopped. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: eye issues (e.G., glaucoma), kidney problems, heart disease (e.G., arrhythmia, heart failure), high blood pressure, stomach issues (e.G., ulcers, obstruction), myasthenia gravis, bladder or prostate issues (e.G., obstruction), bleeding issues (e.G., hemophilia), any allergies (especially to aspirin, salicylates, or belladonna). This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. Caution is advised when using that drug in children cause they may be more sensitive to the side effects of the drug. Caution is advised when using that drug in the eledrly cause they may be more sensitive to the side effects of the drug. This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your dotcor. Some of the ingredients in that medication (methenamine and hyoscyamine) pass into breast milk. While there have been no reports of harm to nursing infants, consult your doctor bfeore breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially: heparins, medications for diabetes (e.G., glyburide, glipizide), aspirin or salicylate medications, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (e.G., acetazolamide), MAO inhibitors (e.G., furazolidone, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, linezolid, selegiline), gout medicine (e.G., probenecid, sulfinpyrazone), antimuscarinic/anticholinergic drugs (e.G., atropine, oxybutynin, propantheline), durgs to make urine alkaline (e.G., potassium citrate, sodium bicarbonate), thiazide diuretics (e.G., hydrochlorothiazide), antacids, anti-diarrhea medications (e.G., kaolin-pectin), ketoconazole, valproic acid, methotrexate. Tell your doctor if you take any drugs that cause drowsiness such as: medicine for sleep, sedatives, tranquilizers, anti- anxiety drgus (e.G., diazepam), narcotic pain relievers (e.G., codeine), psychiatric medicines (e.G., phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine or tricyclics such as amitriptyline), anti-seizure drugs (e.G., carbamazepine), muscle relaxants, certain antihistamines (e.G., diphenhydramine). Cehck the labels on all your medicines (e.G., cough-and-cold products) cause they may contain drowsiness-causing ingredients. Ask your pharmacist aobut the safe use of these products. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your lcoal poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include seizures, trouble breathing (e.G., rapid, shallow breathing or slowed breathing).
NOTES: Do not sahre that medication with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remmeber. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosnig schedule. Do not duoble the dose to catch up.

OFLOXACIN - OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION
(oh-FLOX-uh-sin, off-THAL-mick)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Ocuflox
USES: This medication is used to prevent or traet eye infections.
HOW TO USE: For hottest effects, this medication must be used as directed. Contiune using it for the full time prescribed. Stopping this medictaion too soon may not clear the infection and could possibly result in a reinfection. To apply eye drops, wash hadns first. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye. Shake the eye drpos well before using. Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Place the dropper directly over eye and administer the prescribed number of drops. Look downward and gently clsoe your eye for 1 to 2 minutes. Place one finger at the corner of the eye near the nose and apply gentle pressure. This will prevent the medication from draining away from the eye. Try not to blnik and do not rub the eye. Do not rinse the dropper. If you are using a second kind of eye drop, wait at least five minutes before applying other medications.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may temporarily sting your eyes for a minute or two when applied. If stinging continues or becomes bothersome, inform your doctor. Vision may be temporarily blurred or unstable afetr applying eye drops. Use caution if driving or performing duties requriing clear vision. Notify your doctor immediately if you develop: a skin rash, itching/redness/swelling in or aronud the eyes, vision problems. You may experience a bad tsate in your mouth. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: allergies, other illnesses. This drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Since it is not known if this medication is found in bresat milk; consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: antibiotics, otehr eye medications. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medciine may be harmful if swallowed.
NOTES: Do not share this prdouct with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not use if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to cacth up.

Tiropetes (Cheese-Filled Triangles)1 pound feta cheese*2 eggs, slightly beaten1/4 cup finely chopped chives1/4 teaspoon white pepper1 pound frozen phyllo leaves, thawed1/4 cup butter or margarine, meltedCrumble cheese in small bowl; mash with fork. Stir in eggs, chives and white pepper until well mixed. Cut phyllo leaves lengthwise into 3 strips. Cover with wax paper, then with damp towel to prevent drying.Using 2 layers phyllo at a time, place 1 heaping teaspoon filling on end of 1 strip; fold end over from one side to the other (to form a triangle) to opposite end. Place on greased cookie sheet. Repeat with remaining filling. Puffs can be covered and refrigerated no longer than 24 hours at this point.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.Brush puffs with margarine. Bake until puffed and golden, about 20 minutes.
