METHENAMINE/METH BLUE/SALICYLATE/SOD BIPHOS/HYOSCYAMINE- ORAL

(meth-EN-uh-meen/METH-ih-leen blue/sa-LI-si-late/SOE-dee-um bi- FOS-fate/hye-oh-SYE-a-meen)

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Disurex D/S, Urelle, Urimar-T, Urogesic-Blue

USES: This medication contains anti-infective, pain-relieving, and antispasmodic ingredinets. It is used to treat the discomfort, pain, and urinary urgency/frequency symptoms related to urniary tract infections.

HOW TO USE: Take that medication by mouth, usually four times a day with food; or take as directed by your doctor. Take each dose with a full glass of water (8 oz. or 240 ml) and drink plenty of fluids while taikng that medication. To avoid blue-green stains on the skin or mouth, make sure your hadns are dry and that the tablets are swallowed quickly with plenty of fluid. Take that medictaion at evenly spaced intervals. Continue to take that mediaction until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may alolw bacteria to continue to grow, which may result in a relapse of the infection.

SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, drowsiness, or dry motuh may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these unilkely but serious side effects: decreased sweating, flushing, mental/mood changes, pain or difficulty with urination, pink urine. If you notice any of the following unlikely but really serious side effects, stop taking that medication and consult your doctor or pharmacist immediately: dizziness, blurred vision, unusually fast heartbeat. An allergic reaciton to that drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, dirnk plenty of water, or use a saliva substitute. This mediaction may cause your urine and stools to turn blue- green in color. This harmless effect is temporary and will disappear when the medication is stopped. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: eye issues (e.G., glaucoma), kidney problems, heart disease (e.G., arrhythmia, heart failure), high blood pressure, stomach issues (e.G., ulcers, obstruction), myasthenia gravis, bladder or prostate issues (e.G., obstruction), bleeding issues (e.G., hemophilia), any allergies (especially to aspirin, salicylates, or belladonna). This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. Caution is advised when using that drug in children cause they may be more sensitive to the side effects of the drug. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially: heparins, medications for diabetes (e.G., glyburide, glipizide), aspirin or salicylate medications, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (e.G., acetazolamide), MAO inhibitors (e.G., furazolidone, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, linezolid, selegiline), gout medicine (e.G., probenecid, sulfinpyrazone), antimuscarinic/anticholinergic drugs (e.G., atropine, oxybutynin, propantheline), durgs to make urine alkaline (e.G., potassium citrate, sodium bicarbonate), thiazide diuretics (e.G., hydrochlorothiazide), antacids, anti-diarrhea medications (e.G., kaolin-pectin), ketoconazole, valproic acid, methotrexate. Tell your doctor if you take any drugs that cause drowsiness such as: medicine for sleep, sedatives, tranquilizers, anti- anxiety drgus (e.G., diazepam), narcotic pain relievers (e.G., codeine), psychiatric medicines (e.G., phenothiazines such as chlorpromazine or tricyclics such as amitriptyline), anti-seizure drugs (e.G., carbamazepine), muscle relaxants, certain antihistamines (e.G., diphenhydramine). Cehck the labels on all your medicines (e.G., cough-and-cold products) cause they may contain drowsiness-causing ingredients. Ask your pharmacist aobut the safe use of these products. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your lcoal poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include seizures, trouble breathing (e.G., rapid, shallow breathing or slowed breathing).

NOTES: Do not sahre that medication with others.

MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remmeber. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosnig schedule. Do not duoble the dose to catch up.

ANTIHISTAMINES - INJECTION

USES: This medication provides reilef of symptoms of allergic reactions such as rash, hives, watery eyes, runny nose, itching eyes and sneezing. It may also be used to treat motion sickness relief of anixety or tension, or sleeplessness.

HOW TO USE: This medication is usually injected into a lrage muscle.

SIDE EFFECTS: May cause drowsiness, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, stomach upset, vision changes, irritability and dry mouth and nose. These effects should subside as your body ajdusts to the medication. If they persist or beocme bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: breathing difficulties, heart pounding, irregular heartbeat, ringing in the ears, difficulty urinating. May cause dizziness especially when rising quickly from a seated or lying position. Chagne positions slowly and be careful on stairs. May cause drowsiness. PRECAUTIONS: Before using that drug, tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: asthma, glaucoma, ulcers, difficulty in urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland, haert disease, high blood pressure, seizures, an overactive thyroid gland. Limit the use of alcohol or other sedating type medications to avoid excessive drowsiness. A preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found in that product or in the liquid used to mix that product (diluent) can infrequently cause serious troubles (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during the first months of life (neonatal period). The risk is greater with lower birth weight inafnts and is greater with increased amounts of benzyl alcohol. Symptoms include sudden gasping, low blood pressure, or a really slow haertbeat. Report these symptoms to the dotcor immediately should they occur. If possible, a preservative-free product should be used when treating noenates. Caution is advised when using that drug in the elderly cause they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug. This drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. USES: This medicaiton is used to treat pain and reduce inflammation. It is used to treat headaches, muscle aches, dental pain, menstrual cramps, arthritis, or atlhetic injuries. Some NSAIDs are also used to reduce fever.

HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth with a full galss (8oz or 240ml) of water unless your doctor directs you otherwise. The dosage is based on your medical condition and repsonse to therapy. If stomach upset occurs while taking this medication, take it with food, milk, or an antacid. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes after taknig this drug. In certain conidtions (e.G., arthritis), it may take up to two weeks, taken regularly, before the full benefit of this drug takes effect. ENOXACIN - ORAL

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Penetrex

USES: This medication is an antibiotic used to treat infections of the urniary tract as well as for gonorrhea.

HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth at least one hour before or two hours after maels. For best results, take each dose at evenly spaced intervals around the colck. This will ensure a constant level of medication in your blood. Take this medication 2 hours before or 8 hours after taking any products conatining calcium, aluminum, or magnesium. Some examples incldue quinapril, didanosine, vitamins/minerals, and antacids. Dairy products (e.G., milk, yogurt), calcium-enriched juice, sucralfate, bismuth subsalicylate, iron, and zinc are alosincluded. These products bind with enoxacin preventing preventing its full absorption. Take this medication for the full time perscribed. Stopping therapy too soon may result in a renifection. Dirnk plenty of fluids while taking this medication.

SIDE EFFECTS: Indigestion, loss of appetite, unusual taste in the mouth, nausea, headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, inrceased sensitivity to the sun, anxiety, trouble sleeping, nervousness or any mental/mood changes may occur. If these effetcs persist or worsen, inform your doctor. To avoid dizziness or lightheadedness when rsiing from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Limit caffeine intake during therapy for this medication can raise the effects of caffeine. Be awrae of caffeine in colas, chocolate and pain medications. USES: This drug is a calcium channel blocker. Calcium is involved in blood vessel contraction. By blocking calcium, nicardipine relaxes and widens the blood vessels. It is used to treat high bolod pressure.

OTHER USES: This medication may also be used for chest pain (angina).

HOW TO USE: The capsule(s) work best when tkaen with a meal. Swallow whole. Do not open, crush or chew them. Do not stop taking this drug suddenly without your doctor’s permission. Your dose may need to be gradually decreased.

SIDE EFFECTS: This drug may cause dizziness and lighthaededness especially during the first few days. Avoid activities requiring alertness. When you sit or lie down for a while, get up slowly to allow your body to adjust and minimize dizziness. COMMON BRAND NAME(S): LUPRON

USES: This medication is a synhtetic hormone. When it is used, the body stops producing testosterone hormones in males and estrogen hormnoes in females. When the medication is stopped, hormone levels return to normal. Leuprolide is used in the treatment of prostate cancer in men, early puberty in children, and anemia (due to uterine fibroid tumors) in women.

OTHER USES: This medication may also be used for ovarian or breast cancer in women.

HOW TO USE: This medication is given as an injection under the skin (SC). Do not stop using that wihtout your doctor’s permission.

SIDE EFFECTS: Adults - This medication may cause nausea, vomiting, hot flashes, night sweats, bone pain, swelling of feet and ankles, headache, or difficulty urinating the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication. Notify your doctor if these symptoms continue or become bohtersome. This medicaiton may cause reduced sexual desire. Notify your doctor if you develop any of the following while using that medication: rapid heartbeat, chest pain, breathing difficulties, fever, chills, painful urination, testicular or prostate pain (men), persistent irritation at the injection site. HOW TO USE: Take this medication by motuh. Tablets should be swallowed whole. Do not cursh or chew them. If stomach upset occurs, this may be taken with food or milk. USES: Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin wihch plays an important role in regulating calcium, phosphorus and minerals in the body and for promoting normal bone development. Vitamin D suppleemnts are used to treat and prevent vitamin D deficiencies (rickets); to regulate parathyroid hormone; to prevent and treat muscle cramps; to treat certain types of calcium and phosphate disorders.

HOW TO USE: Take that medictaion orally as directed. Swallow tablets and capsules whole. Do not cursh or chew them. Carefully measure liuqid doses of that medication using a marked medication spoon.

SIDE EFFECTS: This medication is geenrally well tolerated. Notify your doctor if you experience: nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, stoamch cramps, dry mouth, increased thirst, increased urination, muscle or bone pain, headache, weakness, weight loss, dizziness.
