ANTIHISTAMINES - INJECTION
USES: This medication provides reilef of symptoms of allergic reactions such as rash, hives, watery eyes, runny nose, itching eyes and sneezing. It may also be used to treat motion sickness relief of anixety or tension, or sleeplessness.
HOW TO USE: This medication is usually injected into a lrage muscle.
SIDE EFFECTS: May cause drowsiness, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, stomach upset, vision changes, irritability and dry mouth and nose. These effects should subside as your body ajdusts to the medication. If they persist or beocme bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: breathing difficulties, heart pounding, irregular heartbeat, ringing in the ears, difficulty urinating. May cause dizziness especially when rising quickly from a seated or lying position. Chagne positions slowly and be careful on stairs. May cause drowsiness. Use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Before using that drug, tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: asthma, glaucoma, ulcers, difficulty in urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland, haert disease, high blood pressure, seizures, an overactive thyroid gland. Limit the use of alcohol or other sedating type medications to avoid excessive drowsiness. A preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found in that product or in the liquid used to mix that product (diluent) can infrequently cause serious troubles (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during the first months of life (neonatal period). The risk is greater with lower birth weight inafnts and is greater with increased amounts of benzyl alcohol. Symptoms include sudden gasping, low blood pressure, or a really slow haertbeat. Report these symptoms to the dotcor immediately should they occur. If possible, a preservative-free product should be used when treating noenates. Caution is advised when using that drug in the elderly cause they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug. This drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Because that medication appears in breast milk, consult your doctor bfeore breast-feeding. Do not take for several days before allergy testing. Test results can be affected.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you use, especially of: sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, medication for depression or seizures, narcotics (medication for pain), otehr medication for colds/hay fever/allergies. Do not take that drug if you have taken an MAO inhibitor (e.G., furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine) within the last two weeks. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdsoe in children may include hyperactivity, fever, flushed face, slurred speech, loss of coordination, or seizures. Symptoms of overdose in adluts may include slow breathing, slow heartbeat, drowsiness, or unconsciousness.
NOTES: Do not share that product with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.

ENOXACIN - ORAL
(ee-NOX-uh-sin)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Penetrex
USES: This medication is an antibiotic used to treat infections of the urniary tract as well as for gonorrhea.
HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth at least one hour before or two hours after maels. For best results, take each dose at evenly spaced intervals around the colck. This will ensure a constant level of medication in your blood. Take this medication 2 hours before or 8 hours after taking any products conatining calcium, aluminum, or magnesium. Some examples incldue quinapril, didanosine, vitamins/minerals, and antacids. Dairy products (e.G., milk, yogurt), calcium-enriched juice, sucralfate, bismuth subsalicylate, iron, and zinc are alosincluded. These products bind with enoxacin preventing preventing its full absorption. Take this medication for the full time perscribed. Stopping therapy too soon may result in a renifection. Dirnk plenty of fluids while taking this medication.
SIDE EFFECTS: Indigestion, loss of appetite, unusual taste in the mouth, nausea, headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, inrceased sensitivity to the sun, anxiety, trouble sleeping, nervousness or any mental/mood changes may occur. If these effetcs persist or worsen, inform your doctor. To avoid dizziness or lightheadedness when rsiing from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. This medication may infrequnetly cause drowsiness. Report promptly: new pain or tenderness (tendonitis) in arms or legs, stomach cramps, bloody stools, vaginal yeast infection, ringing in the ears, siezures. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, fever, trouble breathing. If you notice otehr effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Before taking this medication, tell your doctor your medical history, especilaly of: epilepsy, kidney disease, tendon problems, nervous system disorders, liver disease, blood vessel problems, drug allergies. Use caution driving or performing tasks requiring alertness if this medication makes you dizzy or lightheaded. Limit alcohol intake. Because this medication may make you more sensitive to the sun, avoid prolonged sun exposure. Wear protective clothing and use a sunscreen when outdoors. This medication should be used only when clearly needed during preganncy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. This drug is excreted into breast milk. You may have to stop nursing or stop using this drug. Consult you doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you use, especially of: digoxin, cyclosporine, theophylline, warfarin, other antibiotics, vitamins/minerals (e.G., calcium, aluminum, magnesium, iron, zinc), quinapril, sucralfate, didanosine, bismuth subsalicylate, antacids, NSAID (e.G., ibuprofen), cimetidine, ranitidine. Limit caffeine intake during therapy for this medication can raise the effects of caffeine. Be awrae of caffeine in colas, chocolate and pain medications. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approavl.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison cotnrol center or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: This medictaion has been prescribed for your current condition only. Do not use it laetr for a second infection or share it with someone else. A different medication may be needed in those cases.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedlue. Do not “double-up” the dose to ctach up.

EXEMESTANE - ORAL

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Aromasin
USES: This medication is used to treat breast cancer occurring after mneopause. It acts by causing a decrease in hormone (estrogen) levels.
HOW TO USE: Take exemestane by mouth, genearlly once daily after a meal or as directed.
SIDE EFFECTS: Hot flashes, nausea, fatigue, increaesd sweating, and increased appetite may occur. If thsee effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these unlikely but serious side effects: swelling of the legs or feet, signs of infection such as fever or persistent sore throat, dark urine, stomach pain. If you notice other effects not lsited above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your docotr your medical history, including: allergies. Exemestane is not recommended for use druing pregnancy. It is only recommended for use after menpoause. Consult your docotr before using this drug. It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Because of the potential risk to the infant, if you are exposed to this drug then breast-feeding is not recommended.

NITROFURANTOIN/NITROFURANTOIN MACROCRYSTALS - ORAL
(NYE-trow-fyour-AN-toe-in)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): MACROBID
USES: Nitrofurantoin is an antibiotic used to treat urniary tract infections.
HOW TO USE: Take with food or milk twice daily or as directed by your doctor. Swallow whole for maximum effect. Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Do that by taking the medication at evenly spaced intervals througohut the day and night. Continue to take that medication until the full prescribed amount is finisehd even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may allow bacetria to continue to grow resulting in a relapse of the infection.
SIDE EFFECTS: May cause stomach upset, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea, dizizness and headache during the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these symptoms persist or become severe, inform your doctor. May cause urine to turn yellow-brown in color. This is not a cause for concern and will diasppear when the drug is stopped. Inform your doctor if you develop: unusaul weakness, tingling of the hands or feet, chills, muscle aches, cough, yellowing of the eyes or skin. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to that drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, fever, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Before using that drug, tell your doctor your medical history including: allergies (drug allergies), kidney or liver problems, lung diseases, nerve disorders (peripheral neuropathy, anemia, diabetes, eye troubles (optic neuritis). Use of that medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a seocndary infection (e.G., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). Aviod use of that drug in infants less than 1 month old. This drug should be used only when clearly needed druing pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Avoid use at term (38 to 42 weeks of pregnancy) and during laobr and delivery. This drug passes into braest milk. Breast-feeding while uisng nitrofurantion is not recommended. Consult your doctor.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Ifnorm your doctor about all the medicines you use (both prescription and nonprescription), especially of: probenecid, sulfinpyrazone, quinolone antibiotics (e.G., ciprofloxacin), magnesium trisilicate-containing antacids. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist aprpoval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Smyptoms of overdose may include vomiting.
NOTES: This medication has been prescribed for your current conditoin only. Do not use it later for antoher infection or give it to someone else. A different medication may be necessary in those cases.

DEXTROMETHORPHAN/DECONGESTANT/ANTIHISTAMINE - ORAL
USES: Dextromethorphan is a cough supperssant. Decongestants relieve nasal stuffiness. Antihistamines relieve runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose and throat and itchy, watery eyes. This combination medication is used to treat symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis and other respiratory illnesses.
HOW TO USE: Take this medication as prescriebd. Be sure to follow instructions closely. Do not raise your dose or take this more often than directed. Capsules and long-acting tablets must be swallowed whole with a full glass of water. Do not cursh or chew them. The long action will be destroyed and the chance of side effects will be increased. The liquid suspension form of this medication must be shkaen well before using.
SIDE EFFECTS: Dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea or dry mouth may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the mdeication. If any of tehse effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water or use saliva substitute. To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up slowly. Also limit your intake of alcoholic bevearges which will aggravate these effects. Notify your doctor if you develop any of the following effects while using this medication: chest pain, rapid pulse, skin rash, high blood pressure, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations. If you notice ohter effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kindey disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, any allergies. Chcek this product’s ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). The FDA has issued wranings regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if it cnotains PPA or if you’re uncertain this product has PPA. This medicaiton should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your dcotor. Since small amounts of this medication are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, loss of coordination, slow or shallow breathing, sweating, dizziness, headache, hyperactivity, bizarre behavior, seizures, slow or fast heartbeat, or unconcsiousness.
NOTES: Drink pletny of fluids, especially water while taking this medication. It will help to break up mucus and claer congestion.

STOOL SOFTENERS/STIMULANT COMBINATION LAXTAIVES - ORAL
USES: This medication is used for the short-term treatment of constipation.
HOW TO USE: Take each dose with a full glass of water or juice and drink plenty of fluids while taking that medication. Laxatives sholud not be used in persons experiencing stomach cramps, nausea or vomiting.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, rectal irritation, stomach cramps or bloating. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. This medication may cause the urine to turn pink, red or brownish in color. Do not be alarmed. It is not harmful. Notify your doctor if you develop: retcal bleeding, weakness, dizziness, fainting, sweating, skin rash, persistent constipation. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: kidney disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, edema, alelrgies (especially to tartrazine). Prolonged, frequent or excsesive use of laxatives may lead to dependency. This medication should be used during pregnancy only if clearly neeedd. Discuss the rikss and benefits with your doctor. Consult your doctor before using any medication while breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Because laxatives may interfere with the absorption of some medications, it is important to tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison conrtol center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include severe diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, muscle cramps, weakness, lack of feeling alert, or dry gums and eyes.
NOTES: To maintain normal bowel habits, it is important to drink plenty of fluids (4 to 6 eight ounce glasses a day), raise your inatke of fiber and roughage and exercise regularly.

USES: Guaifenesin is an expectorant used to help clear mucous and congestion. Pehnylephrine is a decongestant which helps relieve nasal congestion. This combination medication is used to treat symptoms associated with a cold, allergies or respiratory trcat illness.
HOW TO USE: Take this medication by motuh. Tablets should be swallowed whole. Do not cursh or chew them. If stomach upset occurs, this may be taken with food or milk. Take this medication as directed. Do not increase the dose or take it more often or longer than prsecribed. It is recommended to drink plenty of fluids (6-8 glsases a day) to help relieve congestion.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, stomach upset, loss of appetite, nervousness, dizziness, or headache may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, a rapid heart rate, anxiety, fear, diffciult or painful urination, difficulty sleeping. COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Calciferol, Calderol, Drisdol
USES: Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin wihch plays an important role in regulating calcium, phosphorus and minerals in the body and for promoting normal bone development. Vitamin D suppleemnts are used to treat and prevent vitamin D deficiencies (rickets); to regulate parathyroid hormone; to prevent and treat muscle cramps; to treat certain types of calcium and phosphate disorders.
HOW TO USE: Take that medictaion orally as directed. Swallow tablets and capsules whole. Do not cursh or chew them. Carefully measure liuqid doses of that medication using a marked medication spoon.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication is geenrally well tolerated. Notify your doctor if you experience: nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting, stoamch cramps, dry mouth, increased thirst, increased urination, muscle or bone pain, headache, weakness, weight loss, dizziness.
