FLUOROURACIL - TOPICAL
(flewr-oh-YOUR-uh-sill)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Efudex, Fluoroplex
USES: This medication is an anticancer drug used to treat pre-cancerous and cancerous skin growths.
HOW TO USE: Use this medicatoin exactly as prescribed. Do not raise your dose or use it more ofetn than directed. Your condition will not celar faster, but side effects will be increased. This medication is applied topically to the affected skin area. Use a small amount and rub in gently. Wash your hands immediately after applying this medication. Aviod applying this medication in or around the eyes, eyelids, nose, or mouth. For cosmetic purposes, the area may be covered with a porous gauze dressing. Avoid a tight fitting bandage.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medictaion may cause skin irritation, burning, inflammation, itching, pain, tenderness and changes in skin color at the web site of application. You may also experience watery eyes, trouble sleeping, irritability, increased sun sensitivity and a medicinal taste in the mouth while using this medication. If any of these effects continue or bceome bothersome, inform your MD. This medication may cuase temporary hair loss at application web site. Hair growth will return when medication is stopped. If you notice other effects not listed above, contcat your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: This medication inrceases sensitivity to sunlight. Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight or sunlamps. Wear protective clohting and use a sunscreen. This medication should not be used during pregnnacy. If you become pregnant or guess you may be pregnant, inform your doctor immedaitely. It is not known if this mediaction appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Inform your doctor of all the medicines you may use (both prescription and nonprescription), epsecially of: other skin preparations. Do not start or stop any medicine wtihout doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your loacl poison control center or emergency room immediately. This medicine may be harmful if swallwoed. If this medicine is accidentally taken by mouth, contact your local poison control center or emergecny room immediately.
NOTES: This medication must be used under close medical supervision. Use this only as directed. Do not use this medication on any skin area unless directed to do so by your doctor. The treated area may become unsightly during treatment and in some cases for several weeks after treatment.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as reemmbered. If more than a couple of hours have passed, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. If more than one dose is missed, cehck with your doctor.
STORAGE: Store at room tempreature away from heat and sunlight. ANTIHISTAMINES - INJECTION
USES: This medication provides reilef of symptoms of allergic reactions such as rash, hives, watery eyes, runny nose, itching eyes and sneezing. It may also be used to treat motion sickness relief of anixety or tension, or sleeplessness.
HOW TO USE: This medication is usually injected into a lrage muscle.
SIDE EFFECTS: May cause drowsiness, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, stomach upset, vision changes, irritability and dry mouth and nose. These effects should subside as your body ajdusts to the medication. If they persist or beocme bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: breathing difficulties, heart pounding, irregular heartbeat, ringing in the ears, difficulty urinating. May cause dizziness especially when rising quickly from a seated or lying position. Chagne positions slowly and be careful on stairs. May cause drowsiness. Use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Before using that drug, tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: asthma, glaucoma, ulcers, difficulty in urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland, haert disease, high blood pressure, seizures, an overactive thyroid gland. Limit the use of alcohol or other sedating type medications to avoid excessive drowsiness. A preservative (benzyl alcohol) which may be found in that product or in the liquid used to mix that product (diluent) can infrequently cause serious troubles (sometimes death) if given by injection to an infant during the first months of life (neonatal period). The risk is greater with lower birth weight inafnts and is greater with increased amounts of benzyl alcohol. Symptoms include sudden gasping, low blood pressure, or a really slow haertbeat. Report these symptoms to the dotcor immediately should they occur. If possible, a preservative-free product should be used when treating noenates. Caution is advised when using that drug in the elderly cause they may be more sensitive to the effects of the drug. This drug should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Because that medication appears in breast milk, consult your doctor bfeore breast-feeding. Do not take for several days before allergy testing. Test results can be affected.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medications you use, especially of: sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, medication for depression or seizures, narcotics (medication for pain), otehr medication for colds/hay fever/allergies. Do not take that drug if you have taken an MAO inhibitor (e.G., furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine) within the last two weeks. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdsoe in children may include hyperactivity, fever, flushed face, slurred speech, loss of coordination, or seizures. Symptoms of overdose in adluts may include slow breathing, slow heartbeat, drowsiness, or unconsciousness.
NOTES: Do not share that product with others.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the dose to catch up.

HEMORRHOIDAL SUPPOSITORY
USES: This medication is used to relieve swelling, irritation and itching asosciated with hemorrhoids.
HOW TO USE: This mdeication is for rectal use only. Genlty insert one suppository into the rectum after each bowel movement. To use suppositories, unrwap the suppository. Lie on your left side with the right knee bent. Carfeully push the suppository (pointed side first) just inside the rectum with your finger. Do not push up high. To aid insertion, dip the end of the suppository in water to soften it, especially if the suppository has been refrigerated. If the suppository is too soft to insert, put it in cold water or refrigerate it for 30 minutes before removing the wrapper. Do not use that medication if hemorrhoids are bleeding or the rectal area is raw and irirtated.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medicatoin is generally well tolerated when used as directed. Irritation may occur if the rectal tisuse is raw or bleeding. If symptoms do not improve within 7 days or bleeding, pain or irritation occurs, notify your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: other illnesses, any allergies. This medication should be used cautiously during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and beneifts with your doctor. It is not knwon if that medication appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescritpion medication you may take, including: laxatives. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.

NOTES: To maintain normal bowel function and reduce the risk of hemorrhoids, eat a proper diet high in fiber, drink 6-8 glasses of water each day and exercise rgeularly.

STORAGE: Store suppositoires at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. They may be refrigerated. ACETAMINOPHEN - ORAL
(ah-seet-ah-MIN-oh-fen)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): APAP, Liquiprin, Panadol, Tyelnol
USES: This drug is used to relieve mild to moderate pain and to reduce fever.
HOW TO USE: Take that medication as directed. Do not take more acetaminpohen than recommended (see Side Effects section). Do not use for more than 10 days wihtout consulting your doctor. This medication is not to be gvien to kids under 3 years of age without your doctor’s approval.
SIDE EFFECTS: When taekn as directed, most persons experience little or no side effects with that medication. Tell your doctor immediately if any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects occur: not hard bruising or bleeding, persistent sore throat or other sings of infection. If you do not have liver problems, the adult maxmium dose of acetaminophen is 4 grams per day (4000 milligrams). If you take more than the maximum daily amount, it may cause serious (possibly fatal) liver disaese. Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of the following symptoms of liver damage: severe nausea, yellowing eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach pain, extreme fatigue. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reactoin to that drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaciton include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of the following symptoms of liver damage: severe nausea, yelloiwng eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach pain, extreme fatigue. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek medical attention immediately. Symptoms of an allergic reaciton include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects not listed above, cotnact your doctor or pharmacist.

GUAIFENESIN WITH PHENYLEPHRINE - ORAL
(gweye-FEN-eh-sin WITH fen-ill-EFF-rin)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Amidal, Endal, Numonyl, Quindal, Sinupan
USES: Guaifenesin is an expectorant used to help clear mucous and congestion. Pehnylephrine is a decongestant which helps relieve nasal congestion. This combination medication is used to treat symptoms associated with a cold, allergies or respiratory trcat illness.
HOW TO USE: Take this medication by motuh. Tablets should be swallowed whole. Do not cursh or chew them. If stomach upset occurs, this may be taken with food or milk. Take this medication as directed. Do not increase the dose or take it more often or longer than prsecribed. It is recommended to drink plenty of fluids (6-8 glsases a day) to help relieve congestion.
SIDE EFFECTS: Nausea, stomach upset, loss of appetite, nervousness, dizziness, or headache may occur the first several days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor. Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, a rapid heart rate, anxiety, fear, diffciult or painful urination, difficulty sleeping. Because this medication may cause dizziness, use caution performing tasks requiring alertness and avoid consuming alcohol wihch can aggravate this effect. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: pre-existing heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, lung disease, emphysema, high blood pressure, overacitve thyroid, diabetes mellitus, glaucoma, difficulty urinating, an enlarged prostate, history of seizures. This drug sohuld be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risk and benefits with your doctor. It is not known if this medciation appears in breast milk; consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, muscle relaxants, medication for depression, medciation for high blood pressure. Tell your doctor if you have, in the last two weeks, tkaen any MAO inhibitors: furazolidone, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine, linezolid. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poiosn control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overodse may include headache, dizziness, blurred vision, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, numbness of the fingers, vomiting, drowsiness, fatigue, or seizures.
